Is training working?  Are these courses valuable to our organization? Have you ever been asked to show the benefit of training?  Is ROI the best method for trainers to validate training success or is there another way?  This session will share a “cutting edge” methodology called the Success Case Method (created by Robert O. Brinkerhoff). It is a carefully crafted, pragmatic, and proven way of exploring whether and how well an initiative is working. It was designed to overcome some of the traditional barriers we’ve all experienced when trying to demonstrate the impact of training. It produces credible evidence about what is working and what is not working with interventions and provides a level of rigor and relevance that is needed for evaluation in today’s organizations.

Dr. Wendy E. A. Ruona is an Associate Professor at the University of Georgia. Dr. Ruona joined the faculty of University of Georgia in 1999 where she partners with a multi-disciplinary faculty in teaching and leading the Human Resources and Organizational Development masters and doctorate degree programs. Wendy’s scholarship and own practice center around strategic human resource development, performance improvement, and organization development and change. She has actively worked in HRD for over 15 years in a variety of roles, including consulting with many leading organizations in Georgia and internationally in the areas of organizational development and strategic HRD.
